Gareth Southgate is looking forward to a “different challenge” for his England team when they host Germany and Brazil at Wembley next month.
The Three Lions will take on the current World Cup holders Germany on Friday 10 November, before the South Americans are in town four days later on Tuesday 14 November.
And the manager believes the double-header will be a perfect addition to his preparations for next summer’s World Cup in Russia, following England’s successful qualification earlier this month.
A victory over Slovenia at Wembley was enough to see Southgate’s team cement their place at the top of their qualifying group with a game to spare, and that meant the trip to Lithuania became a bonus match for Southgate and his staff to start their build-up.
“We’ve had a good opportunity to look at a couple of things [in Lithuania],” said Southgate.
“The object of qualification is achieved, so it’s about how we go forward now and that process has already started.
“We want to learn a few things and we don’t want to waste an opportunity to do that.”
After finding opponents in the qualification stage happy to sit back and defend against his side, Southgate is looking forward to preparing for November knowing that both Germany and Brazil will be taking a completely different approach.
