Sunday’s FA Community Shield supported by McDonald’s saw Arsenal run out as winners on the pitch at Wembley.
But there were also a number of other winners present at the national stadium, as The FA Community Awards were presented before the game.
A total of ten awards were made, with the grassroots heroes receiving them at a special ceremony before being paraded on the pitch at half time alongside England’s hat-trick hero from 1966 and McDonald’s director of football, Sir Geoff Hurst.
The awards aim to recognise and reward people across the country that make a difference to grassroots football in their local community – the people who dedicate their time to developing tomorrow’s young talent and help ensure safety and best practice in tens of thousands of clubs up and down the country.
They also offer a chance to all those involved in grassroots football to shout about the person, or team of people that have made a real difference to their experience whilst playing or just being involved in the beautiful game.
