Liversedge marched into the preliminary round of the Emirates FA Cup as they edged a thrilling contest with Armthorpe Welfare in their extra preliminary round replay – running out 5-3 winners.
The hosts took the lead early through Devonte Morton’s close-range header, before Roy Faggerty doubled their advantage from the penalty spot.
Craig Aspinall pulled one back for Welfare, but Morton was on hand to grab his second and Liversedge’s third.
Welfare refused to give in though and pulled another back through Wayne Brook, but Liversedge fans must have sensed it was their night when Brandon Kane scored directly from a corner.
Steve Wales’ long-range shot pulled them further clear, although there was still time for the visitors to score a late consolation third.
Longlevens were also ruthless in front of goal as they downed Fairford Town 5-1.
Jason Milhench got the ball rolling for the visitors, but Longlevens grabbed an equaliser through Dave Merrick.
Brad Martin bent in a superb shot to give the hosts the lead, before Merrick’s second after the break pulled them two goals clear.
Jay Kennedy also added his name to the score sheet, before a late fifth completed a perfect night.
Elsewhere, Potton United scored a late winner to beat Biggleswade United – despite finishing the match with ten men.
The visitors led at the break, but Charlie Black’s equaliser and a red card to Potton’s goalkeeper swing the tie Biggleswade’s way.
But a 91st-minute winner, scrambled in from a corner, broke Biggleswade’s hearts.
There were also away wins for Bromsgrove Sporting, who beat Rocester 3-0, and Chessington & Hook United, who beat Lancing 3-1, while Whitley Bay and Deal Town secured handsome home wins.
