The FA Women's Premier League season is in full swing

Paige Stewart made amends for an earlier own goal by setting Leicester City on their way to the FA Women’s Premier League Cup third round with a 3-1 victory against rivals Loughborough Foxes.

Left winger Sophie Domingo opened the scoring in the third minute, firing home from close range but she was replaced just four minutes later due to injury.

Loughborough steadily climbed their way back into the game and equalised in the second half when Stewart inadvertently turned the ball into her own net.

But just six minutes later Stewart made up for her error by firing Leicester back into the lead.

Loughborough pushed forwards searching for an equaliser but Leicester struck again late on as an own goal secured the win.

That was one of just two games played in the Cup today with bad weather continuing to have an impact.

Plymouth Argyle joined Leicester in the hat by beating FA Women’s Premier League North Division side Cardiff City.

Becky Atkins opened the scoring, while Natasha Knapman grabbed the second as Plymouth upset Cardiff.

In the only Women’s Premier League South Division game, West Ham fell to a 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace.
