Blackburn Rovers ended Leicester’s 31-game unbeaten home run in emphatic style, running out 4-0 winners in the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division.
A Saffron Jordan hat-trick helped Rovers to victory, after Lynda Shepherd powered the visitors ahead from the penalty spot after half an hour.
Jordan headed in her first and her team’s second on the stroke of half-time.
She added her second with a terrific long-range effort on the hour mark, and rounded off her hat-trick five minutes later to secure the points.
Blackburn return to the top of the league with nine wins and a draw from their ten games. They are ahead of Middlesbrough on goal difference, but have four matches in hand.
Leicester stay fifth with 16 points from 10 matches.
In the only other game in the league to not fall foul of the weather, Bradford City Women powered to a 5-1 victory at bottom side Newcastle United.
A Charlotte Stuart hat-trick ensured the West Yorkshire outfit left Coach Lane with all three points.
Jess Graham and Hannah Campbell were also on target for Bradford, who are up to third after the win.
Newcastle’s only consolation came from a Nicole Dack strike, and they stay bottom with seven points from 13 matches.
None of the fixtures pencilled in for the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division survived the torrid conditions.
