England Women to kick off World Cup qualifying at Prenton Park

England Women will open their 2019 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign at Tranmere Rovers.

The Lionesses will host Russia at Prenton Park on Tuesday 19 September with a 7.05pm kick-off time.

Tickets are on sale now with children and concessions priced at £1. An early-bird ticket offer of £7.50 for adults will run until 7 August, after which full-priced tickets will then be £10. Group booking and Charter Standard discounts apply.

The game at Merseyside will be England’s first game following the UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 finals, which begin in the Netherlands this weekend.

The Lionesses are now in Utrecht ahead of their opening Euro 2017 game against Scotland on Wednesday 19 July. They will then face Spain on Sunday 23 July and Portugal on Thursday 27 July.  All games will be broadcast on Channel 4 and BBC Radio 5 Live.

England last faced Russia – now 25th in the FIFA rankings – at Euro 2013, drawing 1-1 with a goal from Toni Duggan.

The Lionesses will also face Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kazakhstan and Wales in Group 1 of their World Cup qualifying campaign, with the 2019 finals to be held in France.
