England’s significant achievement of winning the silver medal at the Partially Sighted Futsal World Championships demonstrates a momentum shift in Futsal in this country - and indeed in the B2/B3 Futsal world-wide.

The Three Lions played Ukraine for the right to be ranked as the best in Saturday’s final - and came mighty close.

Ian Bateman’s side pressed and pressured Ukraine from the start, with captain Steve Daley forcing some desperate moments in the Ukraine defence - and with shots from Tom Lamb, Jez Vernaeve, Adam Lione, Paul McHugh and Harry Gibbons, England continued to go close.

Defensively Josh Pugh and Andy Cahill were rocks like repelling Ukraine's response and in Dylan Malpas, England had the best goalkeeper in the tournament.

Only late goals in each half from the Ukraine's player of the tournament Robert Tremba prevented the Lions from winning in what proved to be a highly intense and exciting final.
