Jodie Taylor recognises the size of the task at hand as her England team-mates prepare to face European and Olympic champions Germany for a shot at SheBelieves Cup glory.
After an agonising defeat by France on the opening day, Mark Sampson’s side responded immediately and defeated World Cup holders USA to leave themselves second in the table, behind the French.
An England win would clinch the SheBelieves Cup, provided USA do not beat France by a wider margin. Taylor said: “It doesn’t get much bigger than this.
“They’re obviously one of the best teams in the world for a reason.
“We can’t underestimate how good they are. They are a quality side and they have quality players. We just need to make sure we are ready for that.
“It’s a ‘no tomorrow’ game and three big points against Germany could help us win the SheBelieves Cup.
“We’re approaching it as a big-tournament game.”
Taylor came off the bench on Saturday to help the Lionesses defeat USA in their own country for the first time. It was the Stars and Stripes' first home defeat in 23 matches.
And Taylor believes that result has forced people to take notice of England in this competition and beyond.
She added: “A lot of people are thinking we’re one of the best in the world now.
“I sense a lot more respect now that we’ve beaten the US on US soil.
“That was the main thing – beating them at home. Of the games they have lost, not many have been at home. We all know how tough it is to come here and beat them.
“We got a ton of respect.”
