England Under-18s followed up Wednesday’s win over Saudi Arabia with a hard-fought victory over their hosts Qatar at the Aspire Zone.
George Hirst of Sheffield Wednesday put Neil Dewsnip’s Young Lions in front on 15 minutes, but they were pegged back before the interval.
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Sam Shashoua scored what ultimately proved to be the winner, though the visitors did have to survive Qatar missing a penalty in the last minute.
Dewsnip’s team round off trip when they meet Qatar again on Monday evening.
The head coach said: “Part of our development pathway is to give the players testing experiences and tonight was one of those occasions.
“The players did really well to find a way to win. But I’m sure they would agree they could perform technically better on future occasions.
“We look forward to an improved performance on Monday against the same opposition.”
