Captain Lewis Cook believes England are strong enough to beat Under-20 World Cup hosts South Korea on Friday to clinch top spot in Group A.
The host nation defeated Argentina 2-1 on Tuesday to book their place in the last-16, and a point in Suwon will ensure the Young Lions join them.
Even a defeat could see England qualify as one of the four highest ranked third-placed teams.
But the only scenario Cook is willing to entertain is victory and first place.
“It’s a massive game, because whoever wins it will finish top of the group,” said Cook.
“We’ll take second, but hopefully we can get first and put ourselves in a really strong position for the next round.
“They are a good team, and they’ve got a lot of good individuals capable of changing the game. They work hard, just like any team in this competition. But I think we’ve got enough in our squad to manage that, defend well and score goals.
“For all the lads it will be a great experience. There will be a lot of people there, it’s a big game.
“It will be a great occasion and it’s something we’ll try and cherish.”
