Perhaps the pick of the games came when Jerome Wright’s extra-time brace helped Ramsbottom United come from behind to stun Shaw Lane by 4-1.
Sam Heathcote’s low drive inside the box took the replay to extra time after Lane had taken a first-half lead through Paul Clayton.
Former Ipswich Town and Crewe Alexandra man Wright then rounded off a fine team goal before blasting home from the edge of the box to oust the Northern Premier side, who make their debut in the Emirates FA Cup first round proper this weekend, with Phil Dean putting the gloss on the win late on.
Elsewhere, yhere was late drama at Mariners Park as South Shields snatched victory against Farsley Celtic in a seven-goal thriller.
Farsley had battled back from the brink of defeat, scoring two minutes into second-half stoppage time through Ryan Watson to force the tie to extra-time.
The visitors then netted twice in the space of a minute in the second half of extra-time from Danny Ellis and Luke Parkin to level things up after falling 3-1 behind.
But Robert Briggs’ strike three minutes from the end was ultimately enough to ensure Shields will head to Stafford in the second round qualifying .
