Cork made 13 appearances for the Under-21s between 2008 and 2011

Burnley midfielder Jack Cork has been handed his first call up to the England senior squad.

The 28-year-old is no stranger to England teams having represented his country at every level from U16 to U21 previously as well as being a member of the Great Britain squad at the 2012 Olympics.

The arrival of Cork means Gareth Southgate will continue his preparations at St. George’s Park with a 22-man squad, following the earlier withdrawal of Manchester City pair Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph and Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson.

England host world champions Germany on Friday before returning to Wembley Stadium to take on Brazil in a Bobby Moore Fund International on Tuesday.

Updated squad

Tammy Abraham, Ryan Bertrand, Jack Butland, Gary Cahill, Jack Cork, Eric Dier, Joe Gomez, Joe Hart, Phil Jones, Michael Keane, Jesse Lingard, Jake Livermore, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Harry Maguire, Jordan Pickford, Marcus Rashford, Danny Rose, John Stones, Kieran Trippier, Jamie Vardy, Kyle Walker, Ashley Young.

Tickets for both games start at £20 for adults and £10 for children via TheFA.com/Tickets.
