A five-star performance ensured Marine progressed to the third round qualifying of this season’s Buildbase FA Trophy, as they notched up a comprehensive 5-1 away win at Atherton Collieries.
Doubles from captain Danny Mitchley and James Murray, as well as a goal from Vincent Bailey, saw the Merseyside outfit advance to the next round.
Mitchley gave the visitors an early lead before Christopher Lynch equalised for Atherton.
But it was Murray who scored the pick of the goals, netting a diving header to restore Marine’s advantage and then juggling the ball and firing home to complete the scoring in the last minute.
Billericay Town beat Bury Town 6-2 in an eventful game, taking the lead after just three minutes but finding themselves behind ten minutes later.
It was 2-2 at half time but the floodgates opened as Jake Robinson scored a second-half hat-trick completed with a diving header as Billericay proved too much for their visitors to handle.
After losing 4-0 when the sides met earlier in the season, Harlow Town got their revenge as they beat Dulwich Hamlet 2-1.
Alex Read put Harlow in front on 27 minutes before Reise Allassani equalised three minutes later, but Quade Taylor scored an own goal on 36 minutes to gift Harlow the win.
Royston Town came from 2-0 down to beat Leatherhead by 3-2 with a 93rd-minute winner from Adam Murray sending the home side through.
But Farnborough and Banbury United will have to do it all again after a pulsating second half saw five goals scored in a 3-3 draw.
Similarly, Potters Bar Town and Hereford will have a replay after a goalless draw, while Warrington Town and Ashton United drew 1-1, as did Hednesford Town and Cleethorpes Town.
Heybridge Swifts came from behind to win 2-1 at Dorchester Town with a 90th-minute winner sending them through.
Dorking Wanderers, Hendon and Lancaster City are all in the draw for the next round after comfortable wins, but St Neots Town and Rushall Olympic both suffered 3-2 defeats to Stourbridge and Stalybridge Celtic respectively.
And there were also wins for Chesham United, Mildenhall Town and Shortwood United on an exciting day of Trophy action.
