Record-breaking Wisbech Town goalkeeper Paul Bastock marked his 1,250th career club appearance with victory as his side swept past Thetford Town in the Buildbase FA Vase second round.

Bastock, a 47-year-old playing in his 30th season, broke the world appearance record set by Peter Shilton for competitive matches as Wisbech ran out as 4-1 winners.

Whitley Bay, winners of the competition a record four times, needed extra time to advance against Thornaby from the Northern League Division Two.

Elsewhere, Jordan Nadat ran riot for Midland Premier pace-setters Coleshill Town, scoring six times in his side’s 8-1 win over Blaby & Whetstone Athletic.

Coleshill’s scoring efforts were matched by Thatcham Town, who beat Broadbridge Heath 8-2 thanks to Shane Cooper-Clark’s hat trick.

Deeping Rangers came from 3-1 down at half time to win 4-3 at Godmanchester Rovers, Scott Mooney’s 95th-minute strike completing a dramatic comeback.

Eastbourne Town knocked out Corinthian in similar fashion, Dan Rogers scoring in the 84th minute to seal a 4-3 win of their own.

Midland Premier side Shepshed Dynamo avoided a scare against Brocton of the league below, triumphing 5-3 at their opponents’ Silkmore Lane ground.

North Shields, Vase winners in 2015, saw off lower-league Knaresborough Town – Gareth Bainbridge marking his 200th appearance for the club by scoring both goals in a 2-1 win.

Crowborough Athletic and Walsall Wood both recorded 5-0 wins, against Croydon and Holbeach United respectively.

Coventry United went one better, hitting fellow Midland Premier side AFC Quorn for six, including two goals from Lewis Rankin.

Welwyn Garden City used goals from Yasin Boodhoo and Daniel Bond to knock out United Counties League leaders Newport Pagnell Town, who had Adam Pryke sent off.
