It was back to work for three different England squads at St. George’s Park on Monday as preparation for the second international week of the season began.
For Gareth Southgate’s seniors, it’s all about focus on Thursday’s World Cup qualifier with Slovenia as the Three Lions know that a victory at Wembley will be enough to secure their place in Russia next summer.
And after seeing their training pitch officially unveiled as the Sir Bobby Charlton Pitch, with the former World Cup winner watching on from the sidelines too, there was no shortage of inspiration in the air.
Less than a goal-kick’s distance away, Aidy Boothroyd’s U21s squad were also hard at work as they build up to Friday’s game with Scotland in their second set of Euro 2019 qualifiers.
The Young Lions are at St. George’s until Thursday, when they will head north to Middlesbrough where they face the Auld Enemy at the Riverside Stadium before flying to Andorra for a game next Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Keith Downing and his U20s group were also back together after last month’s games with Netherlands and Switzerland.
With three new faces in their squad in the shape of AFC Bournemouth’s Connor Mahoney, MK Dons defender Callum Brittain and Swindon Town stopper Will Henry, the U20s are readying themselves for a trip to take on Italy on Thursday before they head back to St. George’s Park to play Czech Republic next Monday.
And former Three Lions midfielder Jermaine Jenas was a familiar face watching them from the sidelines as he was filming a special feature for the BBC about St. George’s Park’s fifth birthday.
