England’s U20 World Cup winning squad made a special visit to Kensington Palace on Thursday afternoon, for a reception with HRH The Duke of Cambridge.
The Young Lions were invited to the home of The FA's President after their success in South Korea earlier this summer, when they lifted the FIFA U20 World Cup with a victory over Venezuela in the Final.
And manager Paul Simpson along with 16 of the players from his squad, his coaches and back-up staff all had chance to meet and speak with the Duke, fresh from dropping his son Prince George for his first day at school that morning, at the Palace before returning to their clubs ahead of the weekend’s domestic fixtures.
A number of the players present had also been involved in the U21s’ two fixtures over the last week, whilst Simpson and his staff had been in charge of the U19s’ first games of the new campaign.
Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who scored the winner in the final, was one of the first players to meet the Duke before he chatted with captain Lewis Cook.
The Duke, a keen Aston Villa supporter, was also quick to seek out Josh Onomah for a chat with the midfielder currently on loan at Villa Park from Tottenham Hotspur.
