Connor McCarthy smashed a hat-trick for FC United of Manchester on Tuesday night as they triumphed 6-2 over Handsworth Parramore in their Emirates FA Cup Second Round Qualifying replay.
The men in red raced out of the blocks and were ahead after just three minutes through Michael Connor – Jason Gilchrist added a second with McCarthy getting his first of the night before half-time to make it 3-0.
The Manchester club went 5-0 up before the visitors grabbed a couple of goals in reply, through Ozzy Radford and Pat Lindley, but then McCarthy ended any faint hopes of a comeback with his hat-trick goal five minutes from time.
Elsewhere on Tuesday, AFC Rushden & Diamonds lost out 3-1 to National League North side Alfreton Town.
Alfreton took the lead mid-way through the first-half through Tom Allan, Luke Fairlamb equalised for the Northamptonshire side but then Ricky German and Brendon Daniels took the game away from Diamonds after the break.
Extra time was required to settle things between Wingate & Finchley and Hemel Hempstead Town - Reece Beckles-Richards rifled home after five minutes to give Wingate & Finchley the lead, but Jordan Parkes struck back for Hemel Hempstead with an excellent free-kick.
With the score at 1-1 after 90 minutes, extra time ensued and Hemel Hempstead’s Alex Osborn was the hero of the night, dribbling through the Wingate defence and prodding home with 109 minutes on the clock.
Phoenix Sports FC and Glebe went one stage further. With the score at 1-1 after both normal time and extra time, penalties were required, and Phoenix Sports edged through, winning the spot-kick battle 5-4.
Essex Senior League side FC Romania travelled to Hayes & Yeading United and took the home team the distance, the tie was goalless after 90 but Andrew Ofusu and Manny Duku struck in extra time to settle the encounter 2-0.
Elsewhere, Burgess Hill Town beat Colney Heath 3-0 while Boston United were 5-0 winners at Haughmond. Billericay Town progressed against Thamesmead Town with a 5-0 victory and Hampton and Richmond Borough are in the hat for the next round after a 3-0 win over Potters Bar Town.
Wednesday night sees a replay between Cadbury Heath and Bridport, with the winner drawn to play St Albans City in the third qualifying round.
