After falling behind to Dele Alli's early opener, goals from Alexis Sanchez and Ander Herrera turned the game around in United's favour.

And as they will now plan to take a 14th FA Cup title on Saturday 19 May, boss Jose Mourinho, match-winner Herrera and defender Chris Smalling reacted to their victory.

Jose Mourinho

"If we split the match into periods we were the best team for many of these periods.

“Even when they had the ball when we were winning, we were totally in control.

"We lost control after the 1-0. At half time we spoke, we came back late for the second half because we spoke a lot, and organised ourselves.

"We should ask ourselves why there is too many critics on all of us? We can finish second with six more points. To do that with all the fantastic teams we play against will be an achievement for a club that couldn't do it for a few years now.

"And it will be a fourth final in three years. So, maybe too much criticism."

Herrera scored the winner in the second half

Ander Herrera

"I’m really happy of course with the goal and the victory, we are in another final. We are getting used to being in finals which is very good because this club is about titles and playing in finals.

“We are very happy but against Tottenham, until the final minute, until the last second, their centre-backs, they did an amazing job so we are very happy.”

Chris Smalling

“I think to play our game-plan [Jose Mourinho instructed them at half time], to know what we came here to do.

“We turn up in big games and I think we’ve shown that we turn up in them recently.”
