Seven clubs fought their way close to a Wembley final on Saturday as seven ties took place in the fifth round of the Buildbase FA Vase.
It was a day for the home support as six of the hosts prevailed, with the one exception coming in Warwickshire and a breath-taking passage of extra-time football.
Here’s our rundown of all the action…
Extra-time flurry sinks Coleshill
Finishing 1-1 at 90 minutes, Bracknell took the lead in added time when Adam Cornell finished off TJ Bohane’s cut-back, before Joe Grant put the visitors two ahead with a rocket into the corner.
Coleshill managed to get one back through a deflected cross to give them hope, but when Jon Bennett was felled in the box Bowerman got the opportunity to get his second from the spot and made no mistake from 12 yards out.
Thatcham Town shock Bromsgrove Sporting
Two goals from Ekow Elliott helped Thatcham Town overcome Bromsgrove Sporting in an upset at Waterside Park.
Elliott opened the scoring after cutting in from the right and curling his shot into the bottom corner, before doubling Thatcham’s lead by finishing off a Harry Grant cross from the left.
Sporting got one back when Jon Pykett was fouled in the box and Richard Gregory scored the resultant penalty, but Thatcham held their lead to make it through to the next round.
Melksham edge close battle with Tring
Early goals were enough to see hosts Melksham Town through to the sixth round with a 2-1 win, despite late pressure from Tring Athletic.
Melksham took the lead through a free-kick headed on to Mike Perrott, who nodded in at the far post, and another headed goal came through Rob Hobbs to make it 2-0 with only 15 minutes gone.
Luke Dunstan got one back for Tring before the break but the visitors but couldn’t find the elusive equaliser after piling on the pressure in the second half.
Marske United ease past Bradford Town
Danny Earl scored both goals in a 2-0 win as Marske United showed their quality in a comfortable win over Bradford Town.
Earl deflected a shot into the net to open the scoring after 27 minutes and grabbed his second straight after half-time to edge his side ever closer to Wembley.
Bradford Town attempted to restore parity but were held at arm’s length until the final whistle.
Around the grounds
Ryan Mitchell’s last-minute winner snatched a 1-0 win for 1874 Northwich over Chichester City.
Stockton Town’s Jamie Owens bagged two goals in a 3-0 win over Stourport Swifts to send his side into the sixth round.
Elsewhere, goals from Kieran Knight and Jack Denton were enough to give Windsor a 2-0 victory against Hamble Club, whilst the tie between Wolverhampton
Sporting Community and Leighton Town was postponed due to poor pitch conditions and will be played next Saturday.
