After The FA announced its plans for a more diverse and inclusive game, we shine a light on Alena Moulton, one of the success stories of the inaugural Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic [BAME] mentee programme.
The scheme aims to help redress the significant under-representation of BAME coaches at the top levels of the game.
Moulton left her role at Derby County Ladies to spend a year developing with The FA at St. George’s Park.
She is now a coach at Nottingham Forest Ladies and technical director of Forest’s regional talent club, run by the community trust.
Moulton, who has begun working towards her UEFA A Licence, said: “I’m hoping to change things and make it better for the club and the squad of players and coaching staff.
“I want to go as far as I can in the football world [and] to pave the way for others as well.”
Forest head coach Graham Abercrombie added: “I recruited Alena and it’s probably the best signing I have ever made. She really is superb in terms of the level she brings.”
If you've been inspired by Moulton's story, why not sign up to a coaching course near you?
