The goals flowed in the second round proper of the Buildbase FA Trophy as three sides hit the four-goal mark to progress into the round of 16.
The clash of the day took place at the Crabble Athletic Ground as fifth-tier outfit Dover Athletic were made to work for a pulsating 4-3 victory by seventh-tier Marine.
Manny Parry gave Dover an early lead when he headed home a corner, with Danny Mitchley coolly converting a penalty minutes later to get Marine back in it.
Ryan Bird then restored the home side’s lead before Marine’s William Smart was red-carded just before the break.
Mitch Pinnock and Mitch Brundle both scored second-half efforts for Dover and the hosts survived a scare as Mitchley converted his second penalty of the afternoon.
Michael Brewster added Marine’s third five minutes from time.
Maidenhead United were more clinical in their progression to the next stage as they downed FC Halifax Town 4-1 courtesy of doubles from Moses Emmanuel and Harry Pritchard.
The home side had led in the game thanks to Matty Kysolo’s first-minute opener but were no match for the visitors in the second half as Maidenhead clicked into gear.
Bromley also hit four, away at National League North side Blyth Spartans, as they cruised into the third round proper.
Josh Rees was the first to score after just 15 minutes, Louis Dennis then made it two and both players completed their doubles in the second half to render Greg Rutherford’s goal a mere consolation.
Elsewhere in the competition, Sutton United were big winners thanks to a comfortable 3-0 win over Hendon, and Spennymoor Town beat higher-league opposition with a 2-0 win over Solihull Moors.
The fairytale is unfortunately over for Heybridge Swifts - as the lowest-ranked team still in the Buildbase FA Trophy pushed Maidstone United close but eventually succumbed 2-1.
Kidderminster Harriers and Stockport County will replay on Tuesday after they drew 2-2, Gateshead and Boreham Wood also couldn’t be split as they had to settle for a 3-3 draw.
