And head coach Jon Pugh has selected his squad for the tournament ahead of the first game with Mali on Sunday 10 June.

Their second game, against the Brazilians, comes a day later on 11 June before they round-off the group stage against Costa Rica on 12 June, ironically less than a week after the England senior team face the same nation at Elland Road in preparation for their World Cup.

With 16 nations involved, Madrid 2018 is the biggest Blind World Championships to date with four groups battling it out for a quarter final spot.

For those nations who don’t make it to the knock-out stage, there will be a further play-off to decide the final rankings.
