England C earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Estonia’s U23s at Leyton Orient FC on Wednesday night.
A second-half penalty from Havant & Waterlooville strike Alfie Pavey secured the victory for Paul Fairclough’s side, which is made up from U23 players who feature for clubs outside of the four top divisions in England.
Pavey had earlier come close to breaking the deadlock, as had James Hardy and Robbie Tinkler, following a disallowed first-half goal for the visitors.
But when debutant defender Laurence Maguire, brother of England senior team player Harry Maguire, was fouled in the box, Pavey was on hand to convert the spot kick and seal the win for the non-League Lions.
