Melissa Filis and Fran Stables goals help England advance in U17 Euros

England have qualified for the elite qualifying round of the Women's U17 Euros

England advanced to the elite qualifying round of the UEFA Women’s U17 Championship following a 2-0 win over Iceland.

Arsenal’s Melissa Filis broke the deadlock on 65 minutes with her fourth goal in two games, adding to the hat-trick she bagged against Moldova last Thursday.

Manchester United’s Fran Stables completed the scoring with just three minutes remaining.

The Young Lionesses will now join Germany and holders Spain (who were given byes) in the elite qualifying round draw in November, with those matches scheduled for spring 2019.

The seven elite round group winners will join hosts Bulgaria in the finals next May.
