Richard Hartis has left The FA to return to Manchester United as senior goalkeeping coach.
The move will see Hartis reunited with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having previously worked alongside the Norwegian at United, Molde and Cardiff City.
It will also be a return to familiar surroundings for Hartis who spent ten years at Old Trafford as head of academy goalkeeping including a spell working with the club’s first-team during their 2007-08 double-winning season.
Hartis joined us on a full-time basis from Leeds United in 2016 as a national goalkeeping coach for the professional development phase (MU18 to MU20) and was a member of the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup-winning staff.
“I’m proud to have had the opportunity work for The FA alongside many talented goalkeepers, coaches and staff over the past three years and help play a part in the wider development of the England goalkeeper DNA,” said Hartis.
“I’d like to thank Matt Crocker [head of development team coaching] and Tim Dittmer [head of goalkeeping] for their support in helping to provide a solid platform for the goalkeeping department at The FA, as well as Martin Thomas [lead goalkeeping educator] and Eric Steele [national goalkeeping coach/coach educator] for their continued enthusiasm and dedication.
“I genuinely feel there has never been a better time to be a young England international with there now being a clear and consistent pathway across all age groups right through to Gareth Southgate’s leadership with the seniors.
“Being a part of the first England squad to win a World Cup at any level since 1966 will always live long in the memory and I’m confident that such success won’t become such a rarity for our national teams moving forward.”
Meanwhile, Rob Burch has also left The FA following a five-month spell working with England MU16s to take up the role of first-team goalkeeping coach at Fulham.
