England Women's U19s register emphatic win over China in La Manga Tournament

England Women’s U19s sauntered to a comprehensive 5-1 dismissal of China in their second match of the La Manga Tournament.

The Young Lionesses put Thursday’s defeat by Spain behind them in emphatic fashion, with five different players getting on the scoresheet at La Manga Club in Alicante.

Manchester City’s Jess Park registered the first goal on 37 minutes before four second-half strikes blew China away.

Sheffield United loanee Ebony Salmon doubled the lead on 52, Lauren James made it 3-0 21 minutes from time and fellow substitutes Ella Rutherford and Amelia Hazard completed the rout.

The final match of the La Manga Tournament for Rehanne Skinner’s side is against Switzerland on Monday afternoon.

England’s U19 European Championship elite qualifying round will take place on home soil next month.

They take on Turkey [on Wednesday 3 April], Sweden [Saturday 6 April] and Italy [Tuesday 9 April] with every match to be played at St. George’s Park.
