England’s Futsal team will battle it out for home pride at St. George’s Park this week, when they host the 2019 Home Nations Championship.
After lifting the title in Northern Ireland last year and Scotland prior to that, Michael Skubala’s side are looking to make it three straight championships.
And the head coach has named a longer squad list for the tournament, which England host for the first time.
Skubala has left out some of his more experienced players with the likes of William Wallace, Agon Rexha and Jonny Sim not being called up.
Stuart Cook remains sidelined through injury, meaning that this will be a different looking squad that was in Italy for last month’s World Cup qualifiers.
“In the programme at the moment, we don’t get many friendly opportunities,” said Skubala.
“So it’s good for me to look at a few new faces from the U21s who are doing well and also maybe a few older players that have started well in the National Futsal Series for their clubs.
“It’s important we keep developing while trying to win and this gives some players a great opportunity to get more minutes against some very capable sides to show what they can do.
“Wales have just come back from Austria with an 8-1 win so are really strong. Scotland and Northern Ireland are developing at a really fast pace and are strong and physical, which our younger players need to experience at senior international level.”
England open up their campaign against Scotland on Friday 29 November, before playing Northern Ireland the following day.
And they bring the competition to a close on Sunday 1 December when they take on Wales in the final game.
Tickets are available for each day, priced at £8 for adults and £4 for concessions, which guarantees two games of international Futsal and the exhibition games on the Friday and Saturday.
