England U19s have a double header with France and Belgium in Spain this month, as they take part in the International Marbella Cup.
Paul Simpson’s squad are preparing for November’s U19 EURO first qualifying round, which sees them face Bosnia and Herzegovina, Luxembourg and hosts North Macedonia.
And the Young Lions will see these matches as a solid test as they look to progress through the first stage of the road to next summer’s U19 EURO Finals in Northern Ireland.
Last month saw Simpson’s side kick-off the new campaign with a 3-1 win over Greece at St. George’s Park before they slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Germany.
The majority of that squad feature again this month, but there are also some new faces in the shape of Southampton keeper Jack Bycroft, Chelsea’s Henry Lawrence and Fulham’s Sonny Hilton who all receive their first England call-ups.
“We’ve used the first two camps to try and look as at many players as we can ahead of next month’s EURO Qualifiers, while trying to keep a consistent spine of the group,” said Simpson.
“We’ve made a fair number of changes as we want to see players in and around an England environment.
“We’ve also got a few key players who have been regulars throughout the age groups missing through injury, but it opens the door for other players to show us what they can do.
“We’re expecting two difficult games against France and Belgium. Both teams are strong, athletic and technically very good.
“The physical test will stretch our players and give us a good idea of levels in the group before we go into three key qualifiers in November.”
