England manager Gareth Southgate has called on Three Lions fans to continue their support of his squad this month.
With trips to face Czech Republic in Prague on Friday and then Bulgaria in Sofia next Monday, England will again be backed by a large travelling support.
And after two sell-out games on home soil, last month Southgate and the squad are now looking forward to the backing from more loyal support on the road in October.
“The most pleasing thing for me as manager is that connection back to the fans who watch us, they want to travel to watch us and the level of support is incredible,” said Southgate ahead of his players meeting up at St. George’s Park on Monday.
“We know we can rely on our England Supporters’ Club members to really back the team in the right way and it’s important that everybody does that and they represent the country as we would want to represent the country as a team.
“We’re guests in two lovely venues and we want to make sure everything passes smoothly in both games.”
A video was released in May to highlight the issue of anti-social behaviour across English football entitled ‘Don’t Be That Idiot’.
It portrayed extreme examples of unacceptable behaviour seen around football matches in the past within a conventional setting to highlight the embarrassment caused.
And ahead of this week’s two UEFA EURO 2020 qualifiers, we’re asking supporters to play their part and help ‘report that idiot’.
Mark Bullingham, FA Chief Executive, added: “We have taken our full allocation for the games in Prague and Sofia via our official England travel club, which is an incredible show of support. Many came to Russia last year and had a great connection with the team at the World Cup.
“We know it’s often just a handful of people that cause trouble. We have all had enough of this mindless minority ruining the experience for our brilliant travelling support and intimidating those who have welcomed us into their cities. While we hope nothing will happen, we ask anyone who witnesses this behaviour to help us identify those responsible.”
Anyone witnessing anti-social behaviour before, during or after matches, can report it by emailing englandsupportersclub@thefa.com or by calling or texting +447970146250.
These contact details are also printed on the back of England Supporters Travel Club membership cards. The FA will always work with the relevant authorities to investigate reports of inappropriate behaviour.
