Angel Gomes scored two first-half goals to put England in the lead in Parma

England MU20s got their week underway on Thursday afternoon with a 2-2 draw against Italy in Parma.

Keith Downing’s side made a great start to the game, played at Parma FC’s Ennio Tardini Stadium, as Angel Gomes put them ahead from the spot after 22 minutes.

And the Manchester United youngster doubled the advantage less than a minute later with a fine goal to put England in control.

But when Italy pulled one back from the penalty spot just before half time via Gianluca Frabotta of Juventus, which gave the hosts impetus going into the second period.

They found a leveller four minutes after the restart, with Manolo Portanova netting to ensure it finished all square.

The Young Lions now return to England, where they will take on Czech Republic at Peterborough United on Monday evening.
