England fans have snapped up more than 70,000 tickets for the Germany match at Wembley on Saturday 9 November while over 20,000 tickets have been sold for the match against Brazil in Middlesbrough on Saturday 5 October.
These two home fixtures will close out what has been a huge year for Phil Neville’s side.
It began with the SheBelieves Cup triumph in March before a last-four berth at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup allowed the Lionesses to become one of just three European teams to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The landmark year has also sparked huge interest in women’s football in this country, with 11.7m viewers watching the World Cup semi-final defeat by USA on the BBC.
The Germany match is set to surpass the previous record attendance for an England Women’s home international. A whopping 45,619 fans visited the national stadium when the same two nations met in November 2014.
As well as the two home matches, England will take on Portugal in Setubal on Tuesday 8 October.
Both home fixtures will also be notable for special activity off the pitch.
For the Germany game at Wembley, The FA is looking to bring together every player who has officially represented the senior England Women’s team between 1972-2019. Anyone who played for England Women in this period should contact Lionesses@TheFA.com for more information.
The FA will also pay tribute to the recently retired Karen Carney, Laura Bassett and Claire Rafferty.
For Middlesbrough, The FA is working with the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation to raise vital awareness of a cause close to captain Steph Houghton. Her husband Stephen Darby was diagnosed with motor neurone disease last year. He has since devoted his time to the charity that bears his name along with his friend Chris Rimmer in order to support others.
A new website will be launched next month to help in this aim: www.darbyrimmermnd.co.uk.
