England Women’s star Nikita Parris surprised a grassroots player with a difference this week, calling up the millionth player to have registered on the Whole Game System.
Gemma Batey had no idea when she was registered on the system with her club Ouston Juniors Girls U13s via the Durham CFA earlier this year that she became the player to hit the magic milestone of seven figures.

And as a huge Lionesses and Sunderland fan, central midfielder Gemma was even more shocked when she answered a video call to see the face of one of her favourite players in Olympique Lyonnais striker Parris on the other end to deliver the news.
With Gemma currently recovering from a foot injury during her time in lockdown at home in the north-east, Parris had some advice to help before her return to playing again.
There was also a special reward for Gemma, with Nikita inviting her to be a guest at the next Lionesses home game as well as arranging to get a signed England Women’s shirt sent out to her.
