Debbie Hewitt presents the Inter-Services Football Championship trophy to the RAF's captain Cat Beaver
FA Chair Debbie Hewitt took in two Inter-Services Football Championship deciders last week, as the RAF landed titles in both the men’s and women’s events.
Both games pitted the Army against the RAF, with the Navy providing the match officials for the games on Wednesday 29 March
First up was the women’s competition with the game staged at Leek Town FC, where the RAF ran out as 4-1 winners.
Despite falling behind to the Army after Anna Birtwhistle’s first-half goal, a hat-trick from Pip Wilson and a goal from Lucy Farrow was enough for the RAF to secure victory with Debbie on hand to present the trophy to captain Cat Beaver
That evening saw the culmination of the men’s competition at Shrewsbury Town’s New Meadow home.
And it was the RAF who ran out as winners there too with a 2-1 victory.
An early opening goal from the RAF’s Aaron Eyett was cancelled out by the Army’s Scott Hynd before the break.
But Sam Rawlings ensured the title was heading back to the RAF when he headed home what proved to be the winner and prompted celebrations at full time with Debbie again presenting the trophy.
