In preparation for the start of their 2024/25 EFL Championship campaign, Sheffield Wednesday Football Club selected St. George’s Park to be the venue for their pre-season training camp this summer.

Following a challenging season last term, the Owls will be looking to build on the impressive form they experienced under manager Danny Röhl, following his arrival at Hillsborough back in October. Under the German, Wednesday escaped the relegation zone and maintained their Championship status.

Sheffield Wednesday’s visit to St. George’s Park for their pre-season training camp was their first, and we were pleased to learn that the site and facilities lived up to the club’s expectations.

“It’s perfect when you have everything close to each other,” Wednesday manager Röhl said.

“We have the pitches we can use, we have the gym, we have the food, we have the hotel.”

Defender Liam Palmer was also impressed with St. George’s Park and hopes to see the Owls return to Staffordshire in future.

“It’s the first time we’ve been here as a club,” he said, “but I think everyone has been super-pleased and we’d all love to come back and make it an annual thing.”

Sheffield Wednesday are just one of a number of elite teams that have joined us at St. George’s Park for pre-season so far this summer, with AFC Bournemouth, West Bromwich Albion, Watford, and the Qatar Under-20 teams all spending time within our facilities.
