Wednesday 26 Mar 2025
Aston Villa beat Cardiff City in the fifth round to book their place in the last eight

The Emirates FA Cup quarter-final kicks off this weekend when eight teams will become four as the road to Wembley continues.

When did our quarter-finalists last meet? When did they last reach the final four? Who is the competition’s top assist maker?

Here is your pre-match stat pack.

Fulham v Crystal Palace

  • This is just the second campaign in which Fulham and Crystal Palace have met in the FA Cup, with the Eagles winning a second round replay 1-0 in February 1907 previously.
  • Crystal Palace are unbeaten in their last six away games against Fulham (W3 D3). They’ve already won 2-0 at Craven Cottage in the Premier League this season – the only side they’ve won twice at on the road in a single campaign is Southampton in 1964-65.
  • Fulham progressed from all four of their FA Cup quarter-final ties between 1957-58 and 2001-02 but have since been eliminated in each of their last four appearances at this stage (2003-04, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2022-23).
  • Crystal Palace have progressed from four of their last five FA Cup quarter-final ties, failing only in 2018-19 against Watford in this run.
  • Fulham’s Andreas Pereira has created 18 chances in the FA Cup this season, the most of any player among the sides remaining in the competition.

Preston North End v Aston Villa

  • Both Preston North End and Aston Villa have progressed from three of the six previous FA Cup ties between the sides, with this the first meeting since a 1-0 win for Aston Villa in January 1967.
  • This is Preston’s first FA Cup quarter-final match since 1965-66, eventually losing to Manchester United. They last reached the semi-final of the competition in 1963-64, ultimately losing the final to West Ham United that year.
  • Aston Villa have won each of their last four FA Cup quarter-final matches, with this their first since a 2-0 win against West Bromwich Albion in 2014-15.
  • Preston are unbeaten in their last 15 games across all competitions at Deepdale (W6 D9), and haven’t conceded more than one goal in any match during this run (nine conceded overall).
  • Marco Asensio has been involved in nine goals (6 goals, 3 assists) across his last seven starts in his league’s primary cup competition (Spanish Copa del Rey, Coupe de France and English FA Cup), netting both of Aston Villa’s goals in their 2-0 win over Cardiff in the fifth round.

Bournemouth v Manchester City

  • This is just Bournemouth’s third appearance in the FA Cup quarter-finals, losing 2-1 against Manchester United in 1956-57 and 3-0 against Southampton in 2020-21.
  • Manchester City have won their last seven FA Cup quarter-final ties, with these coming in the last eight campaigns (exception being 2017-18). Their run of reaching the semi-final in six consecutive campaigns is already a record in the competition.
  • Bournemouth have progressed from their last two FA Cup ties against top-flight opponents (against Everton and Wolves in this season’s fourth and fifth rounds), as many as they had in their previous 17 such ties.
  • Antoine Semenyo has had 14 shots in the FA Cup this season, with half of these coming in Bournemouth’s fifth round tie against Wolves. Only Luke Molyneux (19) has had more shots in the competition proper this term.
  • Kevin De Bruyne has been involved in 13 goals in his last 10 appearances in the FA Cup (3 goals, 10 assists), both scoring and assisting in Man City’s 3-1 win against Plymouth Argyle in the fifth round.

Brighton & Hove Albion v Nottingham Forest

  • Brighton have progressed from their last two FA Cup quarter-final ties, beating Millwall on penalties in 2018-19 and beating Grimsby Town 5-0 in 2022-23.
  • Since the start of the 2022-23 campaign, only Manchester City (48) and Manchester United (33) have scored more FA Cup goals (first round onwards) than Brighton (30 in 11 games).
  • Three of Nottingham Forest’s last five FA Cup ties have gone to a penalty shootout, with Forest progressing from all three. Overall, they’ve won all four of their FA Cup shootouts, with only Macclesfield Town and Stevenage (both 5/5) having a better 100% record in the competition proper.
  • Brighton’s João Pedro has been involved in seven goals in his last four starts in the FA Cup, scoring six and assisting another.
  • Nottingham Forest’s Chris Wood has scored more goals against Brighton than against any other opponent in his English club career in all competitions (12), netting four times in two games against them this term alone.
