Will can't wait for Wembley return in FA Trophy Final

Cambridge United goalkeeper Will Norris is enjoying the thrill-ride of his life as he prepares for The FA Trophy final against Gosport Borough at Wembley on Sunday.

The shot-stopper has started only a dozen games for the club before, but he is about to take his place at the home of football in the non-League football showpiece.

"I never had any plans of playing at Wembley back when I was playing for Royston a couple of years ago," admitted a humble Norris.

"It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster really, and I’m just enjoying every minute of it."

The 20-year-old has, however, been been to Wembley once before but that was merely as a spectator watching the Three Lions.

Now he is set to return to north London to play in front of a crowd the size of which he has never come close to performing in front of before.

He added: "I’ve only been there once. I went to watch England and I can’t even remember who they played as it was a few years ago, so it will be nice to go back as a player.

"I remember when I went there it was magnificent to see how big the stadium was. The biggest crowd I’ve played in front of was in the Luton game the other week, and that was only 6000.

"So if it’s double that it will be brilliant, and I just want to feel the buzz in the stadium. Hopefully our fans will make some noise."

While Norris wants the U's supporters to raise the roof in support of their side, he quite fancies a quiet day behind his trusty back-four on the big day.

"The more senior players have welcomed me in and there are no cliques in the dressing room. We’re all the same squad and all the same team," he revealed.

"When I made my debut, they all got around me and said: "relax, take it easy and play your game".

"They had confidence in me and so did the gaffer.

"Personally, I’d rather have a quiet game and let the back four and the midfield four do their job.

"I need to make sure I’m concentrating and ready for it, and not let the occasion get to us."
