Guildford City have been removed from the Buildbase FA Vase in relation to the fielding of an ineligible player in their tie with Eastbourne United.
At a meeting of an FA Vase Sub-Committee held this week, the members considered the charge of a breach of FA Vase Rule 15(i)(i) in that Jack Beattie played in the above match whilst being registered on loan from Farnborough FC and was therefore ineligible.
Having given all the evidence before them due consideration, the Members were satisfied that the charge was proven and that Guildford City were to be removed from the competition with the tie was awarded to Eastbourne United and that the Prize Fund payment due to Guildford City would be forfeited.
This decision, subject to FA Vase Rule 31 which provides the provisions for an appeal, is final and binding.
In addition, the members also considered a charge raised against Clapton FC in relation to the playing of an ineligible player, Yakup Sayer, in their tie with Hertford Town.
The club was charged with an alleged breach of FA Vase Rule 15(h)(i) and whilst it was acknowledged that the competition rules had been breached, the members were satisfied with the explanation and mitigation provided within the submissions made on behalf of Clapton FC.
As such the members exercised their discretionary power, in accordance with FA Vase Rule 16(c), not to remove Clapton FC from the competition.
The members ordered that the First Round Qualifying tie be replayed to a conclusion at Hertford Town on Tuesday 20 September 2016 and it was decided that the gate receipts from the tie shall be retained by Hertford Town, with Clapton FC responsible for their own travel costs.
There was no order as to a fine or costs.
