Welbeck makes it six goals in six games as United beat Swans

Danny Welbeck bagged his ninth goal of the season against Swansea

Danny Welbeck netted his sixth goal in six Premier League games on Saturday to help Manchester United record a 2-0 win over Swansea City.

The England striker has been in fine form in front of goal this season. His strike on the hour-mark against the Welsh outfit was enough to clinch United victory for the first time in 2014.

Welbeck had seen a chance to give his team the lead in the first half go begging when his eight-yard strike squirmed wide of the Swansea post.

“I'm delighted he got another goal.”

He remained focused, however, and his reward came after Antonio Valencia had put the Old Trafford side in front.

Patrice Evra fed the ball into the box where Welbeck was well-positioned to divert past Swans keeper Gerhard Tremmel and into the corner of the net.

“I was pretty disappointed going in at half-time after missing that first opportunity,” Welbeck told MUTV. “I just tried to stay focused, keep concentrating and remain positive that I would get another chance.

"Thankfully I did and put it in the back of the net."

Moyes congratulates Welbeck

His club boss David Moyes was also pleased to see the 23-year-old add to his tally of nine for Manchester United, added to another three he's netted for England.

Swansea tasted victory at Old Trafford in The FA Cup last week, but were unable to repeat the feat.

Instead, the win moves Moyes's men to within four points of the Champions League qualification places.

"[Welbeck] did well, much better in the second half he looked more like himself and was a threat," said Moyes.

"He had a great chance in the first half when he should have scored as well, but I'm delighted he got another goal."
