Gary Barlow and Gary Lineker led a team of England legends and pop stars in recording the song which they hope will help inspire the Three Lions to glory in Brazil this summer.
The track will be a remake of Take That’s ‘Greatest Day’, first released back in 2008, and Barlow was clearly delighted to be back in the same studio where he’d originally recorded the song.
The pop superstar said on Twitter, "Thrilled the official England 2014 FIFA World Cup song for @sportrelief will be Greatest Day!"
“Really enjoyed recording my solo piece today. Struggled a bit initially with the high notes but think I nailed it! ”

Barlow and Lineker were joined by an incredible line-up. Former England players Dion Dublin, Glenn Hoddle, Sir Geoff Hurst, Martin Keown, Gary Mabbutt, Michael Owen, Gary Pallister, Carlton Palmer, Kenny Sansom, David Seaman and Peter Shilton took part.
And they were added to by some of pop’s finest in the form of Katy B, Emma Bunton, Mel C, Eliza Doolittle, Pixie Lott, Conor Maynard and Kimberley Walsh at Sarm Studios in West London.
Barlow wasn’t the only one to take to Twitter to crow about the song and it appears Michael Owen is convinced he knows who the star of the video, which will be shown for the first time on Sport Relief Night on Friday 21 March, will be.
Owen said: "Really enjoyed recording my solo piece today. Struggled a bit initially with the high notes but think I nailed it!
"I trust that Gary Barlow & Gary Lineker were suitably impressed with my range?"
The video for the England World Cup Song 2014 will form part of the Sport Relief weekend which will run from the Friday 21 to Sunday 23 March and will be available to download on iTunes.
