The FA has appointed Lee Kendall as the new England Women’s Goalkeeping Coach.
Kendall replaces Keith Rees, who was in the role for over ten years, and joins Mark Sampson’s backroom team from Bristol City.
He said: "It was an honour to receive the call from The FA and it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.
"I am really looking forward to working with a talented group of goalkeepers and trying to help the team qualify for the 2015 World Cup.
"I know Mark did very well at Bristol Academy and I am excited by the prospect of working with him and his assistant Marieanne Spacey.
"They are really knowledgeable and enthusiastic coaches and I’m sure we will work very well together.
"I’d like to thank everyone at Bristol City for being so understanding, especially Steve Cotterill.
"He’s a terrific manager and I enjoyed every minute of working with him. I’d like to wish him and the whole team the best of luck for the rest of the season."
During his playing career, Kendall enjoyed spells at Crystal Palace and Cardiff City before becoming Academy Goalkeeping Coach at Sheffield United.
He then moved back to Cardiff, taking up the position of Head Academy Goalkeeping Coach, and joined Bristol City in May last year as first team Goalkeeping Coach.
Kendall has also worked with the Wales U21 side.
Sampson added: "I am delighted Lee has accepted the position to work with our goalkeepers.
"Moving forward, getting the right type of people on board will be so important to us both from a playing and staff perspective.
"I know Lee is not only a fantastic coach that the players will learn a lot from, but he is also a good person who will be a huge help to both myself and the team over the next four years."
