Burnley FC academy: shooting games

Most, if not all, young players get a great deal of enjoyment and pleasure from shooting at goal – and Burnley academy have kept this in mind when designing their games programme.
The carousel that they’ve devised includes a shooting activity that gives a nice balance between structure (you go this way through the cones) and freedom to try things (if you want to go 1v1 against the goalkeeper, you can).Scoring goals is the hardest thing to do and it might be one thing that we don’t, in general, practise enough. This is also a really focused activity for the goalkeepers so there are benefits for all involved.

If we want to produce high quality goalscorers then we have to include lots of practice ideas to make this possible. It will always be a winner with the players as well.
