BIO
The Arsenal youngster received his first call into the England senior squad in late August 2020, after a strong end to the 2019-20 season saw him play a key role in helping the Gunners to win the Emirates FA Cup.
A man-of-the-match performance against Liverpool in the 2020 Community Shield at Wembley helped convince Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate to take a look and he was duly added to the squad to face Iceland and Denmark in the UEFA Nations League.
International football was nothing new to the north Londoner either, having been a regular face for the Young Lions in the preceeding years. He was a member of the U20s squad who won the FIFA U20 World Cup in South Korea in 2017 and also helped Aidy Boothroyd's MU21s in their qualification for the 2019 U21 EURO, although he wasn't involved for the trip to Italy for the Finals.
The versatile Maitland-Niles can cover a number of positions, most notably as a wing-back. Having originally broke through the ranks as a winger, as well as filling a central midfield role at times, his passing range, energy and pace make him a formidable and reliable option.
