BIO

The FA Crest

The Burnley goalkeeper earned his first senior England call-up in 2015, after impressing during his first campaign in the Premier League with the Turf Moor club.

His infectious attitude to training and support for his squad-mates quickly made him a popular member of the group and, despite the Clarets' relegation that season, he remained part of Roy Hodgson's squad throughout the following campaign as he captained Burnley to the Championship title and was voted as the division's best keeper.

The former Manchester United youngster - he spent seven years at Old Trafford during his formative years - was part of the squad for EURO 2016 in France and duly proved his worth in the top flight again the following season.

However, an unfortunate shoulder injury suffered in September 2017 ruled him out for the rest of that season and cost him a place in Gareth Southgate's squad for the FIFA World Cup in Russia, as club-mate Nick Pope stepped up to replace him for both club and country.

A return to the Burnley first team in December 2018 heralded some impressive form, with Southgate bringing him back to the Three Lions fold in March 2019.
