With special significance around the 50th anniversary of Bobby Moore lifting the World Cup, The FA is fully supporting this week's Football Shirt Friday – a fund-raising day run by the Bobby Moore Fund.
It’s the day of the year where everyone’s encouraged to wear their football shirts to work – and donate £2 to help beat bowel cancer, the illness which ended World Cup-winning captain Bobby Moore’s life at just 51.
The FA has supported Football Shirt Friday every year, but is extending its support to mark the anniversary of England’s World Cup win.
All staff at its Wembley Stadium and St. George’s Park offices are being encouraged to wear their football shirts to work, and the County FA network has been engaged to harness its support – and, as the stadium giant public-facing screen will show on Friday, even the stadium will wear a shirt!
“No matter who you support, our only opposition on this day is bowel cancer,” says FA chief executive Martin Glenn. “Bowel cancer is the second biggest killing cancer and 44 people every day die of bowel cancer in the UK, the equivalent to four football teams.
“So let’s show bowel cancer the red card and make Bobby proud. Dig out your football shirt for 22 April and wear it with pride.”

And if you’re a member of the England Supporters Club, you’re encouraged to share pictures of you and your mates wearing your football shirts on the Supporters Club online gallery. The best photo will win a pair of tickets to your choice of England's upcoming pre-EURO 2016 internationals against Turkey, Australia or Portugal.
