England have qualified for the Women’s Euro Under-19 Championship with a 2-0 defeat of Denmark while Elite Round Qualifier Group 2 rivals Czech Republic and Turkey played out a draw.
The Lionesses and Denmark both went into this match on the back of victories on Wednesday, with only the group winner certain of their place in August’s Finals in Northern Ireland.
Chloe Kelly, Ellie Brazil and Georgia Stanway all tried their luck in the first half with England dominant, but unable to make the breakthrough.
On 48 minutes though, Megan Finnigan finally broke the deadlock, turning in Maz Pacheco’s corner at the far post.
And England clinched the points 10 minutes from time when Stanway beat Denmark goalkeeper Katrine Svane to a long pass forwards from Finnigan, firing first-time into an unguarded net from 30 yards.
The Lionesses play their final qualifier against Czech Republic on Monday knowing they are already certain of finishing top of their group, becoming the seventh England team to qualify for a major tournament Finals this summer.
