Phil Neville says England’s last two matches have led him to understand what is required to beat ultra-defensive teams.
The Lionesses drew 0-0 with Wales on Friday before edging Bosnia 2-0 on Tuesday.
Both opponents had at least 10 players behind the ball at all times and showed little in the way of adventure.
Neville said: “SheBelieves was brilliant because we were playing some of the top teams in the world.
“But I’ve learnt the most from the last two games in terms of how to break defensive teams down.
“With a bit more luck we could have got a few more goals.”
England dominated possession against both Wales and Bosnia but had to wait until Toni Duggan’s 56th-minute opener in Zenica for any tangible reward in front of goal.
Jodie Taylor’s penalty in added time sealed the victory.
Neville added: “We talked about parking the bus - this was parking three or four buses. It was football like I had never seen before.
“It was a patient performance; we had to wait.
“The first goal was always going to be key and we managed to get the first goal. Against teams like this, the first goal is vital.
“It was comfortable throughout, but as long as it is 0-0 there is always that temptation of thinking back to Friday night when we dominated the game against Wales and we didn't manage to get the goal. So the girls stuck at it.”
He continued: “It was a bit like a training game – attack v defence. The most pleasing thing was that there could have been a psychological hangover from Friday night and we might have forced things. But we were patient.
“I enjoyed the game because we played exactly how I wanted us to play. We knew they were going to sit deep and it was a great exercise in patience.
“Toni Duggan scored a brilliant goal - she was fantastic.”
Neville had sympathy for defender Alex Greenwood who was sent off after collecting two yellow cards, the second for an alleged dive inside the box – but her head coach has backed the 24-year-old.
He said: “I feel sorry for Alex. I left her out of my first squad but now she’s back in and she has done everything I’ve asked of her. She has been terrific in training.
“She was outstanding in the first half. It was a penalty.”
Neville added: “It’s been another fabulous 10 days. The players have [taken] on everything I wanted them to.
“I wanted us to be top of the group and we are, so that’s a great place to be.”
