The first World Cup moment that I really remember was watching Michael Owen’s goal against Argentina in 1998. That’s the first action I remember, but I was very young then.
It’s still an iconic moment which kids looks up to and those are the kind of moments which we have to try and create for the kids who are watching now.
That’s probably my favourite moment in the World Cup too, it’s a pretty good one I think.
Playing in a World Cup, it’s the pinnacle really. It’s not just the biggest football event but one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
It’s unique in the sense that everything else we do with our clubs and England is within Europe, but this is the only one which is worldwide and touches every corner of the globe.
At the moment, we’re quite relaxed about it, we’re still in England but when we get to Russia, we’ll start to feel more about the size of the competition and the challenge.
Hopefully I get the chance to play and I’m just looking forward to competing out there.
