The capital provided both winners of the 2018 FA Futsal Cup, as London Helvecia and South London Ladies took the titles.
Taking place at the University of Wolverhampton’s sports campus in Walsall across two days, there was some great Futsal on display.
Saturday saw the semi-finals and some memorable match-ups in the men’s category, as Reading Escolla beat Birmingham Futsal Club in a 4-3 thriller.
The other semi-final was a little more one-sided as Helvecia clocked up an 11-2 victory over Grimsby Town FC Futsal, whose terrific achievement in reaching the Finals after springing two massive upsets in the previous rounds was brought to an unfortunate end.
The University of Birmingham Ladies went one step further than their male counterparts from England’s second city, with an impressive 15-2 win over Loughborough Futsal Club.
And following the unfortunate late withdrawal of Has Beens on Friday evening, it meant that South London Ladies were given a bye through to the Final.
They then went on to beat the University of Birmingham by 6-3 to secure a second successive FA Futsal Cup title.
In the men’s showpiece, it was much tighter and Helvecia ran out as 2-1 winners over Reading Escolla.
