Wasim Haq has joined The Football Association [The FA] Council as a BAME Football Communities Representative.
BAME Football Communities Representatives were introduced as part of The FA’s 2017 governance reforms to further help diversify The FA Council and Wasim has subsequently been appointed as an observer to the Inclusion Advisory Board [IAB].
Wasim is the managing partner at First Team Partners with over 25 years of experience and has held senior management roles across the UK strategic consulting landscape in the healthcare, sports marketing and sports recruitment industries.
Specifically within the sport, Wasim has worked closely with European football clubs, teams, federations, leagues and brands in areas such as recruitment, sponsorship, branding, marketing, investment, digital and broadcast media within football, rugby, basketball, cricket and tennis.
Haq said: "As a life-long football fan, I’m thrilled to be joining The FA Council and look forward to combining my professional expertise with my knowledge of the football industry to support The FA towards becoming the very best it can be.
"Whatever your background, in England, there are opportunities for everyone from all walks of life to be involved. I really believe The FA is 'for all' and I am delighted to be involved."
As part of The FA Council, Wasim will be expected to use his skills, knowledge and experience of the game and act as an ambassador for the organisation.
