Young Lionesses miss out on WU17s Euro semi-final on goal difference

Saturday 11 May 2019

England fell just one goal short of making it through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s U17 Championship.

The Young Lionesses defeated Netherlands 2-0 in Kavarna, Bulgaria, but Germany’s 3-1 win over Austria meant Gemma Grainger’s side missed out on a place in the last four on goal difference.

England opened their finals campaign with a 4-0 defeat by Germany only to bounce back and edge Austria three days later.
